airbag idiot light?

I just had to replace the airbag warning light (due to the incompetence
of my dealer); it took about a week to get a light to put in, but now it
won't turn off.
When I turn on the car, the light stays on for about 4 seconds, then
blinks for about 4 seconds, then stays on for good.  The light was
disconnected for about a week or a week and a half.  Any ideas on what
to look for?  The system is still connected, so that's not the problem. 
Anyone know how to decode these flashes?
