An easy fix to the rear speakers in an 80/90 car is to unbolt the bottom
plate of the speaker where the factory amps are and cut the power line to
it. Then you can supply your own real amplifier, a 30x2 Alpine in my case.
The speakers themselves are actually pretty good when you supply enough
power to them and it saves you from drilling holes in the rear deck.
