Would it be possible to "slowly" open the connection until it starts
dripping and have a pan underneath to catch the fuel. Once the dripping
stops, finish opening the connection, meanwhile you don't get sprayed
with fuel and the fuel that does come out doesn't end up all over you
and your floor. Might take a little longer though.
