It depends on the make.  If you look _very_ carefully at the back of
a stripped Cibie unit, you can just see that it's actually two pieces
of plastic fused together.  I spent _MONTHS_ trying to get a Cibie
headlight watertight - new gasket, clips, floated it in the bath
looking for leaks ...

The two pieces of plastic had come ever so slightly unfused.  Almost
invisible.
