OK, I checked the Bentley and it seems the thickness change is for
the rear windsheld and rear side windows only.  They went from
4.2mm to 3.0mm.  the changeover appears to be in the 1980-81 time
frame so I guess nothing is affected with respect to this
discussion here.

Why did they change the glass thickness?  Probably to reduce weight.
