Henry,
With fear of starting a long thread here, I'll jump in anyway and
provide my feedback.
I am of the same opinion as you. For my Nissan 300 ZXTT with 45-profile
tires in the back, I changed from Good Year, to Dunlop D40M2 (both
Z-rated, 45-profile) and later to Dunlop D60A2 JLB, H-rated, 50-profile.
I was looking for a good H-rated tire in 50-profile with long treadwear
life. The D60A2 had the highest rating I could find and was available in
my dimension, 245/50R16. Relatively competitive price and I have been
very satisfied with them. All tires are compromises between a large
number of different characteristics. Just a matter of finding which you
value the most (and that's not to easy).
Good luck /// P-O
