For the V6, at least, there isn't a specified replacement interval, but
the service manual says to "check the condition" of the belt every 30K
miles.  Normal practice is to replace the belt every 60K miles.  The
water pump was unfortunate, however, and 53K miles sounds a little early
for it to die.
