Audi has been having problems with the exhaust manifolds on the bi-turbo 2.7. 
They have shown a tendency to crack.  According to what I have read, they had
the same problem with the original turbos.  They had gone to hand building the
manifolds.  It sounds like they are going to a ceramic manifold, which can take
the heat stress.
