5kcstq differences, Ignition stuff.

Hello,
    I was wondering if anyone knew what major differences were between
the 86-88 5000cstq cars?  Which is the most desirable year to own?  I
currently own a 1980 5ks with 200,000 miles and am getting ready to
upgrade to a 87 5kcstq.

Also,  I recently put a set of MSD ignition wires, a 45,000v coil, and
gapped the plugs to about .045in on the 80 5k.  I have noticed a great
increase in the upper rpm range and have gained a small percent in
mileage.  I was wondering if the stock distributor and other ignition
components will be damaged by the increased voltage?  I read somewhere
that the stock coil was about 12,000.
