RE:High Altitude???

I was told that the octane performance of gasoline improves with
altitude. That's why they sell lower octane rated gasoline in Ft.
Collins. The Ft. Collins gasoline should perform at that altitude
similar to higher octane rated gasoline at sea level. I am not a
specialist in this area, but this information was given to me by a
relative who lived for many years in the Sierra Nevada mountains
(California) above 10K feet. At that time, the octane ratings sold were
the same as at sea level, so they just bought the rating below what
applied at sea level, and I do the same when I am in the high country.
