TX LLB's

Returned earlier from the 300 mile round trip run from new orleans
to mobile, AL. And
by damn don't i agree mini-vans, and SUV's(stupid useless
vehicles) of all sizes
apparently feel that the left lane is for going <=70mph and slowing
up my progress.
It also seemed that a great majority were wearing Texas plates,
and every one with TX
plates also seemed to be unaware of what flash to pass means.
M Huggins quoth:

Pardon to my audi brethren from TX, but what the hell are these
rednecks texans thinking, i don't give a damn if their in front of me
as long as they are willing to exceed the speed limit by at least 5
mph or so, and are willing to move when i wish to pass. I do not
expect everyone, car, on the road to be willing, or able to cruise at
85-95mph.

In 12 years in TX (now post facto, thank god) I was never able to
communicate to my friends that that in all other states, the left lane
was considered to be a PASSING lane. Texans simply regard it
as another place to drive all day. They are in fact ignorant, not
wilfully causing discord. However, this is an example of a strange
similarity between Texans and New Yorkers - whatever the
customs are outside their world is....they don't matter. These folks
only care about the way they do it at home.

In defense of the Texans, I will say that contrary to the observation
above, I had pretty good luck using a polite "flash to pass"
practice. However, it often doesn't work with folks when you're 3
feet from their rear bumper. Many of them will slow down just to
pi** you off in that case.

And as an aside - if you feel constrained to drive 85+ - I will simply
repeat an olf phrase: "When you play, you gotta pay". 85+ is too
fast for public roads.
