Subframe Bushings, Ur-q, BTDT's?

I am preparing to dive into the ugly business of Subframe Bushings on
the front end of my 83 Ur-q.
I have seen postings in the archives that mention the possibility of
leaving the lower control arms attached to the subframe. This was done
by disconnecting the ball joints.
I am wondering if this also means that the motor mounts should be done
at the same time, and if so, should the motor be lifted slightly to
accomplish this feat.
I have been reading the Bentley to try and come up with something that
makes sense, but so far not much has surfaced.
Any BTDT's would be appreciated.

Thanks,

David Ritter
