Wheelbarrow Junkyard Method
I went to the junkyard this morning for more parts for the "new" coupe.
Here is what I got:
digital dash
door trim strip int. rt.
lic. plate frame (in case I get a ticket)
spare tire
spritzer bottle, front w/motor (I'm going to mount it in the rear)
turn signal,left bumper
motorized mirror assy., left
headlamp assy., right
locking gas cap (one of the 4 keys on my keyring fit :-)
door handle plastic surround, interior
sunroof mechanism complete working
trunk lid strut (good pressure)
headlamp trim, lower right
"coupe gt" dash emblem to swap with the "4000 S" one in the coupe
seat position latch arm (major sweaty pita to remove)
dome light assy
seat slide bushings
parking brake switch
gas pedal cover (like new!)
lug bolts, light bulbs, fasteners and fuses
8 relays, not the right F.P. relay for the 87.5 coupe though :-(
I didn't use a wheel barrow, but rather a recycling bin which is like a
long milk crate. This was conveniently liberated from the donor coupe's
trunk. I bought 3 bottles of spring water and gave one each to the two
guys running the yard. It's been hot around here lately. I drank the
other one myself while pulling parts. Needed half the bottle just to get
the seat out.
Anyway, I loaded up the crate with smaller stuff underneath and the
headlight and dash on the top since I already had haggled on the price
of these two items the day before. I carried my tools out first, then
the spare tire, then my haul. I set the crate on the counter wondering
if the salesman would unload the whole thing or just do it the lazy way
and peer through the side mesh of the bin. He looked through the side
and spotted the mirror and obviously could see the dash, headlamp, and
the sunroof track wich was bigger than the whole basket. He suggested
$50 possibly thinking I would try to talk him down as I have done on
everything else I got yesterday, but I just paid him. I think I did ok.
Still need 2 outside sections of the lower grill in the air dam and the
left front reflector in the bumper. If anyone has these FS from an 85-87
4k, 4kq or coupe please let me know.
Thanks,
Wolff
