The microfiche shows an engine mounted via the transmission bolts onto
a floor stand - these stands are great because you can turn the engine
this way and that with little effort.  However, there's a _strong_
note (in a little box for emphasis) that the bores should not be
measured when the engine is on this stand, because the end mounting
does distort the block.
