Re: front control arms on rear to install a sway bar?
Many have done this in the PNW. You need both front a-arms from a 4kq, the
bar, end links, bushings, etc. You also need to go to Schucks and buy 2
polyurethane center sway bar bushings and 2 "U" shaped holders for those
bushings. Crude ascii art follows:
___ ___

|___|
Put one of the tabs in a vice and hit the bracket with a big hammer until
the tab is vertical:

Install the a-arms after removing the stock rear a-arms. The right front
will be the left rear and vise versa.
Attach the end links, bushings, etc. to the a-arms. Pull the center of the
sway bar up until it almost contacts the rear subframe. Put the
bushings/brackets on the bar and using the holes in the bracket, mark where
the two holes are to be drilled in the subframe. Drill holes, insert
bolts/nuts and you are done.
The drilling/attaching part can be done any number of ways. I just matched
the spacing of the front center bushings as closely as possible. I've even
heard of guys using the fornt subframe from a 4kq in the rear so no
drilling is required. However, I haven't seen it done, so I can't say for
certain that it will work.
If you have the parts car (as your sig. says), this can be done very
quickly. I once heard of a guy doing this the night before a QCUSA track
event. That guy wasn't me!
