Active Brake Propertioning vs. Passive



I could swear my 87.5 coupe stops very much better than my 86 4kq. Why
is this? Both have the same brake disks and calipers right? Is it just
the weight difference? Just me? Or perhaps the "active" rear
proportioning valve of the coupe really works, while the q remains
severely biased towards the front?
Any comments welcome,
