Elusive Squeak Found - Left rear Suspension 5kCSTQ
Hi All:
While replacing the rear half-shafts I stumbled upon the source of
a squeak I have been trying to isolate for some time. I knew it was
coming from the driver's side rear but...
Turns out it was the spring that connects the trap. arm to the brake
proportioning valve. Where it hooks onto the trap arm, actually on
a plastic bobbin shaped thing, it had become rusted and dry and the
rubbing was causing a squeak. Sprayed it with white lithium grease
and no more squeak. Sweet Silence :). Now if I could just get my
hands on all of those crickets in my yard ;)
Two other comments. The inner boot on the driver's side rear half-shaft
was gone. It is hidden by a an exhaust heat shield so hard to see.
For all of you with Qs, check it out. Must be the heat causing the
rubber to go since it is so well hidden/protected from other things.
FYI, I got my rear half-shafts from Rod at the Parts Connection for
$99 per side complete, new Lobro. They were on special so...
Lastly, I replaced my fuel pump. Didn't know how loud the old one
was until I put the new one in.
