Re: My Transmission "BARKS"
To: dendrite
John,
I recommend that you don't waste time asking us... get thee to the shop,
brother. The auto tranny in your '93 100 utilizes it's own control module
that will record auto transmission "errors". These errors can be read by a
shop with the proper equipment (most likely a VAG 1551 [or whatever that
know-it-all diagnostic tool is]). If you're not comfortable with the
conflict of interest point of view that your selling party may have, take
it to an Audi dealership and have them write up an estimate of what they
believe the problem is.
Good luck.

Subject: My Transmission "BARKS"
Mine . . .
1993 100cs Automatic
Between 2nd and 3rd gear (only) . . . it "barks" while upshifting.
This barking noise is a semi high-pitched slipping sort of noise.
Is this common for this car (I've hear of hard shifting).
My suspicion is that this is not only not normal, it's abnormal.
Quick, it's still under warranty (100% for 30 days)!
What do you folks recommend?
