Need belts?
OK now these are dealer prices and I'm not claiming them to be cheap, or
that you may not be able to do it yourself but.........
At 60k we suggest to our v6 owners that they start thinking about doing the
t-belt and doing the water pump at the same time.
Cost? often comes out right to $800 with tax, 6.5%in CT. This is for a
the timing belt, the tensioner, other roller, serpentine belt, water pump
and antifreeze. We may do cam seals at the time if they leak and I often
ask that the tech do them even if they don't. At $5 per they are too cheap
not to.
We've done a bunch of cars lately that haven't done the belt and had it
break. These have hit as high as $2800 bux! They've all bent valves (12
valves cost $400= I think) so add that to the bill. Then add head bolts
($101), valve seals etc...... Can be up to 25 hours of labor according
to the books by the way.
When in doubt just do the T-belt. Hope this helps someone.
