Re: 1990 90CQ20v squeaks and creaks

Hi!

Just had Gabriel GasRyder shocks installed about 1 week ago. On
the weekend I started getting creaking and clicking noises
on turning the wheel. Sounding like CV joint clicking, but was
there even without moving the car, but just turning the wheel.
Took it the shock fitters and they undid the struts and
completely shot my alignment to kingdom come! They then sprayed
lube over the left strut mount and it shut up. The right
creaks big time, though. So last night I had a friend turn
the wheel while I listened for the source of the sound. I thought
it was the RHS CV joints as I just had LHS joints done and the
RHS ones serviced. But I found the clicking noise to be coming
from the strut mounting. The rubber toothed bits on which the dished
washer rolls was being dragged along by the washer as the strut
turned and it would then snap back and make a click. I am about
to spray it all with some Q20 lubricant as that will make things
a bit easier to move. I think this is what happens when fitters
overtighten bolts.
