<snipsnip>
my cq was recently shod with Borbet "T"'s and 205/55/16 Michelin Pilot
XGT-Z4's. The change in ride was far more dramatic than I would have
expected (previous were 205/60/15 BFG something or other M&S on the
Speedlines). Don't know whether it was the +1" rims or the Z-rated
tires that made the biggest difference, but the combination is highly recommended. Feels very connected with the road,
less roll and brake
dive, and just more solid feeling.
As for 225 width, I considered this but stuck with 205's at the last
minute. The wider tire surely looks bitchin, and probably gives better adhesion in cornering, but my past experience is
that wider tires can
dull the steering response a little, which is one thing these cars
can't afford to sacrifice. Also, wider does not equal better (sorry,
Pontiac) on wet/snowy/slippery surfaces.
So make your own decision on the width, but I think 16" rims are a
natural for this car.
