As I recall the AudiFest location was originally suggested as there
were
rumors that Audi was going to make some sort of official presence
there ...
remember the discussions about Michele Mouton? It was advantageous
in that
it was a bit more centrally located in the USA than Mt. Washington
... which
really would be a better choice from a factory involvement
standpoint ...

The Monterey Historical Races choose a featured marque for each
year, the
marque for the coming year is normally announced at the end of the
prior
year's event. There doesn't necessarily have to be some sort of
anniversary
that they are commemorating in doing so ... many times there is ...
like
last year Porsche got bumped to this year because there was some
sort of
	anniversary ...

Frankly, I'm a bit surprised to see that Audi would be chosen as the
featured marque for the historical races ... Audi/Auto Union really
hasn't
had much of a racing presence here in the USA ... and with a few
recent
exceptions the racing history that Audi does have has not been at
race
	tracks ...

... you don't hear me complaining though! I'm dreaming about the
cars that
Audi is likely to be assembling for the event ... Avus Quattro,
Pikes Peak
car, IMSA and SCCA racers. It'll also be a bit of fun to take the
QTC
	around the track ... :)
