Another interesting evening ...
Just about to leave for the Area E meeting, when Roger Galvin's wife
Lesley called. The passenger window on the Coupe quattro won't go up,
and Roger's got the garage keys with him in Korea - so she can't swap
the car over for one of the ur-quattros.
Bugger. It ruins Part 1 of my evening - the road to Roger's is boringly
straight, as is the road from Roger's to the meeting. The _direct_ road,
in contrast, is a real 'quattro' road. Never mind.
A few minutes with the car, and the problem is obviously the driver's
door switch. Ever tried to remove the switch block from a Coupe
quattro?
Some small holes. A screwdriver produces a satisfyingly solid metal
contact. But no grip. Try straight, PoziDrive, cross-head, etc.
Nothing.
Then, inspired, a 4mm Allen driver. BINGO!!
Switch over the switches between driver's and passenger's doors, and
the window lifts sweetly into place. Just as well, because it's
starting to rain ...
