Re: Power Window Regulator Questions

In a message dated 98-08-19 00:39:01 EDT, you write:

<< If I am not mistaken?......what Rod is talking about IS NOT an Audi part,
it is an aftermarket setup, it does not work very good, it is not a bolt on
and you will have to play with it to get to work correctly................ >>

That was my impression in the past mostly re: 4k, etc.

Here's the deal. These things carry Audi Part numbers and Rod says that they
are a factory retrofit to the design as used in the 90's cars. Bosch is the
vendor. The part numbers are:
443 837 397 D
443 837 398 D

<< My suggestion is to stay away from it, even a rebuilt cable mechanism is
better (check Mountain Audi in Colorado), believe or not .....the Audi set up
is good, the worm gear set up is slow binds easily and is a pain to
install...........I know I have 2 of them....... >>

Again, according to Rod, this is an Audi retrofit, not aftermarket. From that
I would assume this is something new to us. I too have been told in the past
to stay away from the aftermarket worm regulators. On the type 44 this is
suposedly a "plug and play" retrofit to the present Audi design (again
according to Rod).

The Parts Connection seems like a good and honest parts supplier. I have dealt
with them under their former name (IPC) for many years and they have gotten
some good words from other listers recently. We do get a good q-list discount
from them as well.

Can anyone confrim that this is, or is not, an Audi retrofit and pass along
BTDT's? The part #'s sound real...but who knows. TIA
