Re: Oil Filter differences - Audi pn's?

I understand the importance of this feature, that's why I've been buying
the OEM (Mahle) filters. I've compared the OEM (N/A 5 cylinder) filter and
others like FRAM and there does appear to be a piece missing in the non-OEM
which I assume is the valve. The OEM can be bought for about the same
price as FRAM ($2-3) if you shop around, at least that's my experience
buying the ones spec'd for the N/A 5 cylinders.

AHA! That must be the one I'm looking for. Twice as big = twice the cost,
I guess. It kind of makes sense, but I'm not sure that bigger is
necessarily better, especially if the oil and filter are changed
frequently. At least this gives a clue what the tradeoff might be if one
uses the N/A filter in it's place.
Thanks, Andrew. And thanks also to Phil, Andrei, and Ti Kan.
