Heated seats

I've got the passenger seat in pieces.

Interesting.  On the first occasion (the driver's seat) I found a very
different construction from the one I expected.  The element wasn't
sewn in, for one thing.

The passenger seat was much more neatly put together and has a sewn-in
element.  I'm tending to the theory that the driver's seat had already
been repaired when I bought the car - this would account for the
separate element and the (relatively) clumsy assembly.

Has anyone found a way to get the adjuster knob off without breaking
off the lugs?
