Marina AutoX Report
Well, I just got back from the Marina airfield AutoX in
Marina CA (just north of Monterey). All I can say is
wow...VERY fast autocross....much faster than anything
I remember doing before. Some of us hit speeds just
over 80 mph in one section... A write-up will be done
on Sean's A4 page (with pictures - very cool) very soon,
but just to give you the highlights....
> 14 Audis showed up (9 competed) - 11 A4s (the
others were qlisters; Mike Veglia, Gross, and Wolff)
> Corey Smith kicked butt.....his 97 1.8TQM Wett 1.0 bar
with Antera 121 17" wheels and Bridgestone S0-2 Pole
Positions were in fine form. Corey managed to clock
two runs in the 69 second range (His last run...a fun
run....he got a 69.08 with no penalty seconds). Just
as a comparison...low et on the track was done
by Dennis Hale (Datsun 510) at 63.8 seconds.
Most of the A4s ran in GStock class, with two of us
in C-Street Prepared, and one in E-Street Prepared (I
think he was put erroneously in this group). And
Wolff in (what class was that again?). The majority
of the A4s were in the 76 - 81 second range.
Anyway, I wanted to thank all those that made the trek.
The cheering squad was great as well. BTW, no other
car model was represented as much as the A4 at the
event. All in all a very good showing for Audi. Good job folks...
More info to be done on Sean's A4 Page/NorCal A4 Club
section in the coming days. Check it out at:

BTW, my best time was a 73.043 (1 cone hit penalty )
IMHO, the M+S rated Pirelli P7000SS are not well
suited for autocross....rain? yes, street driving? yes,
autocross or driving schools? no.
