Re: 99 A6 avant impression

Hi All
Had the pleasure of selling a new '99 A 6 Quattro wagon to some folks up here
and must say that the car was such a trip (had to get it from a dealer down
south) that I thought for a while about seeing if the franchise was coming
available.

With the 30 v engine and tip trans the car seems to have more torque yet than
the earlier vehicles. Smooth as silk yet when I got on the back roads of NY
and VT did'nt let me down in the turns. The tiptronic is fun but really not
quite like a stick. Probably in real high speed conditions, it is quicker to
respond,( that's why they build IROC'S and V 8 Q's mostly in automatic) just
takes getting used to.

This car had the enhanced security package which is side air bags for the rear
doors and xenon lights. Can see very well with the lights and for some reason
even the Dodge Caravans move out of the left lane while I'm coming through.
Astounding.

The rear seat is nowhere near as convenient as the earlier cars, but it is a
much more secure space for your kids, because it is a much more solid seat
with head rests and is further away from the tailgate in case of being rear
ended.

Ther give you many toys to play with such as freight/dog catcher screen rear
tonneau and such but they can't all be used at once so you have to store
something in the garage.

All in all a very nice larger version of the A 4 Avant (looks just like it)
and a greart drive.
