[S4 (C4)] Hoppen, IA, TAP, MTM, Wetterauer: power + torque
Hi!
This mail is just for curiosity's sake. If it is
beaten to death already, then please move on. I don't
own an S4, but am slowly getting there. Still milling
around the somewhat beaten-up 200.
Which mod to the 1993-1995 S4 gives the best results?
I've looked on the net at the IA, TAP and Wetterauer
mod information. Some need manifolds and turbos and
wastegate springs to go with their computer upgrades
(MTM, IA). The one thing I couldn't gain from the net
was power/torque curves and boost pressures. I have
a few questions:
1. Anyone gone shopping for mods for the S4 perhaps
provide me with some info on what they found out
to be the "best"?
2. Anywhere to go to check comparison data? Torque
and power curves anywhere online? Annoyingly,
some of the above modifiers either don't have
websites or simply list power output and no
torque. I'm more interested in where torque
starts happening. I guess no use fiddling with
car that produces 350Nm @ 1900RPM onwards only
to find out it all starts happening much later
(3000RPM onwards).
3. Which of the above modifiers offer product
guarantees?
4. Anyone know the different boost pressures they
offer? A recent post indicated 30PSI from the
Hoppen mod. Anyone have Hoppen options?
4. I guess the best thing to do to the S4 is to
dump in a RS2 manifold and turbo, but I see from
and RS2 article that the torque kicks in some
1100RPM higher than the S4. I liked the idea of
the very low down production of torque in the S4
and I think Wetterauer offer a computer-only
upgrade to get 420Nm at 2500RPM. Anyone know if
one takes the Wett computer and put the RS2
stuff into the engine bay will the RS2 turbo
be the cause of lifting the max torque output
RPM higher up the range?
5. Who offer matched computers for the S4 that has
had the RS2 manifold and turbo put in? I think
it is MTM. I'd like to know which delivers
torque the soonest. Or does 500RPM really not
make a difference?
Sorry for wasting bandwidth. Some of you might be
saying "typically him" to ask silly questions, but
I'm a Audi lover and would just like to know what
folks can do to these cars and who does it best,
even if I don't own an S4.
TIA. :)
G.
