It much depends on drivers, but when Peter Moody ran his Mazda he was
faster than any Audi out there including Bruno's. His XTrack gear box
allowed clutchless shifting so that he could shift up and down in turns.
This trasmission could also be regeared without removing it from the
car. It is far superor in ability to put power to the ground than any
Audi.
It also has LSD front and rear. Its modest 300HP engine was enough to
run in top 3 in this contry.
It has modern Proflex dampers far superior in technology to any old Audi
stuff even alloy works suspention. The shell was built properly also.
This is the car that will beat Audi and did in proper hands. Paul
purchased a different car that is not built up as far.
As for All Tracs their homologated versions won more rallys than Audi
ever did or will. Johny Milner won Irish National Championship in
privatly prepared Celica GT4 that was different from an All trac by its
intercooler. That was GrN this year. He beat GrN Evos and Subarus.
Audis were nowhere in sight exept in Magasines for sale cheep.
I know you asked for Audi gear builder in UK and I am still looking for
one other than SMS, but I found for $7000.00 US all the parts I need to
convert my stock Celica case to 6 speed crash box with gravel or tarmak
ratios good to 330hp. That includes front and rear LSD and gravel
visco. I will be getting it this winter. It is readely available from
several sourses.
As to limitations of all All trac it depends on how much money is spent
and how good the driver is. I intend to do my All trac to be better than
most Audi rally cars in this country and I know it could be done with
all bolt on parts like in case of the Evo running with us this year.
Most All tracs in US are used in stock form. The only works Celica that
ever ran in US belongs to Jeffry Penton of Jamaica and it did well in
the only rally it entered in country in Ohio. They dropped out of that
event because the service crew was envolved in fatal accident. That was
the only properly constructed Celica that ran in this country.
Incidentally it is for sale now as Jeffry is in line for new Corolla
WRC.
My 83 UrQ restoration project however has been completed this week with
repair of AC and a set of new tires. It is great joy to drive and still
is the greatest street car I have ever had. It was worth 4 years it took
to restore and will allways keep me as Audi admierer. It is just a
street car however....
