S6 clutch question

I recently had an interesting experience with my 95.5 S6.  I launched from
a stop in a "spirited" manner and found that when I shifted to second gear
the engine was revving out of proportion with my speed.  Seemed like
clutch slippage.  I mellowed out for a time and things went back to normal.

The car only has 35k miles.  It has not been driven hard since I've owned
it, and I don't have evidence that the PO pushed it hard either.  No other
signs of clutch slippage to date.

Are people swapping out the clutch plate and/or clutch when they do
performance mods to the S6/S4?  How hardy is the stock unit?
