Well, I still don't know yet why the oil pressure gauge was dropping, but it
got down to staying at less than 1/2 bar, probably closer to an indicated 5
psi on a trip to a nearby city, that I decided to finally use my AAA gold card
and have it flat-bedded to my local trusted audi/other european auto repair
facility last night.  Unfortunately, they were short a few techs today, so
I'll have to wait 'til Monday for sure.  Keeping my fingers crossed.  Driving
my mom's slushbox-equiped '91 100 now (what a slug!)
