Stock springs and Boge or KYB shocks would be just fine for your purpose.
Expect to pay about $30-50 per shock. Don't know about springs. I kept old
springs and with new shocks car handles just fine. I bought shocks from
Olympic Foreign Parts (800-370-0041). After shopping around I found their
price the best. Ask for Ralph, he is a friendly guy. You might mention my
name and Qlist. It may help me and others get good deals from them but
it's up to you.
No personal affiliation/interest blah-blah-blah.
If you change shocks consider changing strut bearings. Attention! Front
and rear strut bearings for 4kq are listed as different pn's at dealership
and at VERY different prices. Mailorder companies are rarely able to sell
you those listed as "rear" and it will seem to you that your dealer is the
ONLY place where you can buy them. Don't buy this trick! Purchase four
"front" bearings and put two of them to the rear! They will go there just
fine and they are cheaper. The only difference is that rear bearings are
painted in blue. This is my BTDT experience and a tip I obtained from James
Mariott (Thanks James!).
