Fuel filter replacement
I finally got around to replacing the fuel filter in my '92 100S yesterday.
The car has 74k on the clock, and I believe the filter on the car was the
original. Replacement was quite easy. I started the engine, pulled the fuel
pump fuse, and let the car stall. This really relieved the pressure in the
lines, and caused almost no fuel leakage when I removed the filter. When I
placed the old filter in a white container to drain the excess fuel out of,
you would not believe the black grit that was coming out of it. The filter
must have been REALLY dirty. Overall, this was a simple, and inexpensive job
(part # 893 133 511 for the V6, $11 from TPC). Whole process took under half
an hour. I highly recommend replacement of this filter, especially if you,
like me, am not sure when it was last replaced, if ever.
