They are actually painted or tinted red. I just use any plain grain of
wheat bulb, 14V is ideal, then color them with paint used for decorative
glass. Available at any crafts store, the water based paint I use is
called "Createx Transparent Deep Red". You just put a couple of drops on a
cotton swab and dab it on the bulb. Could make 'em blue or green for that
matter.
