Xmas came early to '875KSQ instrument panel - all lights ablaze

Hi all,

info appreciated re above problem. Car just certified. I repaired faulty
ignition contact switch which repaired electrical drain problem.

all instrument lights checked out when "ignition on" only

auto check "failures" went away with rebuilt rear caliper (170.00 cdn, which I
thought not bad.) annd a set of front brake pads.

Car came out of garage clean. Did a complete checkout and all OK.
However, my daughter came home tonight - 4 days later - with story of both
autocheck and instrument lights ablaze. also no response from tach "suppossed to
have stayed at 100 on the dial, ie idle. also coolant gauge is no go. not sure
whether sensor - most likely - or gauge but do not see that as problem.

My first impression is a major ground short - loose or redirected, possibly
related to brushes on altenator?
As it's electrical, all theories greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Tayo de Boer

Ps. certifying garage used a 15A instead of a 5AMP fuse for AutoCheck - red
herring?
