In an attempt to get my '83 ur-q back on the road before the turn of the century I am considering my "engine options". Specifically that of purchasing a remanufactured engine from the good people at VAG. I would like to hear any comments from people with experience of VAG remanufactured engines, specifically regarding the quality of the rebuilds.

VAG are asking ~2K (CDN) for a remanufactured engine - the core charge, depending on the engine, can actually be higher than the cost of the remanufactured engine. My '83 ur-q engine is a case in point.

FWIW, I will most likely be fitting a 86-88 MC engine.
