Hello everyone.  I'm new to this list.  I just bought an 85 audi coupe
gt.  Not a quattro but its an audi.  There are a few problems with it
I'll need to fix.  Lets see, the speedo doesnt work.  It didnt work on
the last audi I looked at so I'm guessing thats something that goes
bad on lots of old audi's.  The front tire is bad but I can replace
that, or just rotate it.  And the hood latch doesnt work.  There are 2
wires sticking out the front that you have to pull to get it open.  

So, does anyone know how hard it is to replace the steering cable and
if its something the average Joe could do?  

And, how would I fix the hood latch problem?  I'm pretty mechanically
inclined and know a lot about cars but I dont have a whole lot of
hands on experience.
