I'd noticed sluggish accelleration in my 1990 100 which I figured was
the transmission, so I dropped it off at the dealer (Clair Audi in
Dedham,MA) for a look-see.  I was stunned by the ~3K quote to replace
the tranmission.  Other than the transmission, this car is in *great*
shape.  Based on Eric's mail, I guess this is a reasonable price for
the work quoted.  At ~3K to fix it, and the car being worth 4-5K max,
I tempted to do nothing and wait until it fails completely.  Do I have
any better options?
