Please Read:Should I sell or part out a good Coupe GT??
De-lurking for an important question that may have philosphical aspects as
well as practical ones, so no flames plz!!
+++++
I may have the chance to purchase a *very, very* low mileage '86 CGT from
the orig. owner to replace my own '86.
My car is solid as hell, but to me, a perfectionist, has a tired interior
(read: I don't like to take dates out in it anymore), could use
a paint job within the next few years, a new windshield, some trim , has 2
or 3 dings that bother the hell out of me, etc (you all
know the drill, right? :).
Should I be able to pick up the low mileage car, I won't keep the current
one. I am looking for an educated opinion-- I am
tossing around the idea of parting out mine (which has: many new
suspension components, a 105k motor that has been
maintained religiously, a good 5spd, body that is overall very good, a
perfect dash, etc.) instead of selling it outright. I know
many (including me!) would be interested in parts for your own CGT's,
4k's, and urq's, but part of me would hate to take a
good car off the road unless it was econimically very wise.
However, I know I got my car for peanuts with only 83k on it, and I see
many advertised for very little asking $$. They don't
seem to fetch a lot of dough.
So, if you had the tools and time to almost *completely* disassemble,
clean, and ship a coupe worth o' parts, would you?
Anyone want to take a stab at what an '86 CGT might be worth parted out
vs. whole?
Thanks y'all, don't know where else I could possibly pose such a
question!!
