I would avoid stop leak products.  OK, once I used some Bar's in my 5kt,
all it did was plug up the expansion tank lower hose, so it *looked*
like I had plenty of coolant.  Yup.

Anyway, a new heater core is what, $40-60 at the dealer?  Saving that
isn't worth trying stop leak and dismantling the whole mess again soon. 
Get new heater hoses while you're at it.  (eliminate future
aggravation)  They are probably $10 each or so.
