Re: Experience with Barrier Audi in WA state?

I bought my Coupe Q used (6 months old, 6000 miles, more than 1/3 off list
price -- woo hoo!) from Barrier in 1991. While the maintenance was free
under Audi Advantage, I had no problems.
Once the car went off AA, life got difficult -- there were a few instances
of the repair price going way over the estimate, and work performed that I
didn't order. After that, I went to a local repair shop (Bellevue
Motorsports), and had and continue to have great results.
Personally, I have a real problem working with a service "advisor" who gets
paid commissions on how much work he writes up. So, I don't use them (and
their kissing cousins, the full-service stock brokers.) That's not to say
that all dealer maintenance is suspect, just that the financial incentives
are not in my favor.
Barrier also pushes Jaguar and Porsche at this location, so it has a "high
end" (expensive finishes, high ceilings, well-dressed salespeople, etc)
showroom. You can bet that this high-overhead cost gets folded into the
hourly maintenance rate (and new car prices, of course.)
