Re: power windows one touch - do you have it?
FWIW, The A6 (98) has one touch up/down on all windows. The sales guy demoed it
going up with his arm in the window with no damage to his arm. Can't recall if
it stopped or reversed direction.
I was involved with the design of a chip for "express" windows a while back.
Seems the "big three" thought that "express" up was too dangerous. If the
down/up timeout is controlled by just a timer, that may be true. If there is
over current sense (for stalled motor) of the window motor, that would make it
a bit more safe. But, what about snow and ice? Will "express" up work if there
is large ice buildup on the window? I'll find out this winter......
I vaguely recall reading somewhere that the A4 (dunno 'bout the A6)
"brain" behind the window one touch up/down did this by counting
pulses from the motor, knowing where top and bottom "should be".
And needs to be retrained if you ever completely lose power . . .
Anyone have more info/experience on this? Just curious...
