Re: Buying out of town
You're right, it's risky if you don't know someone in the area.I do it all the
time, but It's usually between dealers. There is a unwritten rule between
dealers that if the car is not as described or there is frame damge or
odometer problems, the deal is off.. Reputable dealers will refund if these
sort of issues arise even after the purchase within a few days.
Also I know the cars and I have the advantage of doing a walk around and then
a drive and know what I have. If I am operating from a long distance and
buying from a private party, I'll find someone who can determine whether we
frame damage and if there are serious mechanical issues before I travel that
far.
I do know a dealer in the Portland ,OR area that I've done business with many
times. I would count him to be objective. If this helps, you can let me know
what you have in mind and I'll have him contact you. Sometimes a team effort
works out better.
