I can sympathize with the "situations" described by Phil P., Christian, and
others who have had car dealings which involved friends. On a personal (but
lighter) note: I think about my beloved '89 Probe GT, which I finally sold
just this past Sunday. The car had only 45 K miles and was in perfect,
unblemished (Mr. Cur would say "mint") condition inside and out. I sold it
to...the pizza-delivery guy!!!
For months he had asked when I was going to sell it. We joked about how
I'd sell it to him only if he never used it for pizza deliveries (he
promised). But anyway I know that, eventually, problems (of which I had no
indications) are bound to develop. Will he understand that? Ordinarily I
wouldn't give it a thought, but...
can we ever again be comfortable having a pizza delivered by him? I can see
the headline: "BRIGHTON COUPLE CRITICAL; SUSPECT TAINTED PIZZA"
