Thanks to all who sent me their advice re: dash instrument circuit board,
trailer hitches, and stereo upgrade.  I haven't been able to remove the dash
cluster yet to clean the contacts - the steering column housing blocks it
from coming out so the steering wheel has to come off - this weekend I hope.
I did order a trailer hitch from a site I got off the Q-List; thanks for the
tip on that.  The stereo upgrade is on hold because I may need it as a sales
inducement for my old car.  Any one interested in a 1989 Mazda MX6?
