A long time ago, I was cruising at 125 or so in my old Passat CL5 when
an XJS with three passengers pulled onto the Autobahn just as I passed
the sliproad.  He gradually accelerated and I could see him starting to
get big enough to worry about in the rear view mirror - I picked a gap
between a couple of trucks and started to move over for him.

Just as I did so, his engine let go in a _spectacular_ fashion,
showering oil and hardware all over the Autobahn.  I stopped to
commiserate, and discovered that they were three Iranians on their way
to Frankfurt to watch some of their family's possessions (carpets,
mainly) being auctioned for living expenses.

The XJS was borrowed.  Needed a new bonnet, too.
