Groaning 88 90S

1988 90S with 80k miles has a unique moaning or groaning sound when I turn
front wheels when car is not moving. No increased steering effort is noted.
The power steering pump and associated gear do not leak, and the power
steering works fine and makes no noise while underway. The belt was just
recently replaced as part of routine preventive service. It isn't the
typical loose belt noise. Any suggestions on possible cause and potential
fix. Is this a power steering pump warning that it is time to rebuild? Fluid
level is fine.
