My comments were based on the following posts from Scott J. and Bruce Bell,
plus some other comments I remembered (or thought I remembered). Having
looked through my notes, I apparently mis-quoted Ned Ritchie. He commented on
using the turbo cam in his wife's Synchro. Sorry about that. I also have the
Bruce B. post referenced by Scott. E-mail me if you can't find it in the
archives.

<<* Ned: Yes the 130hp N/A cam is the same as the turbo cam, or vice versa
more specifically, and the turbo cam has the lobe for the vacuum pump even.
* Most of the thread deals with "turbo" cams in "N/A" motors, in actuality,
it's the other way around, most turbo cams, even performance ones are rooted
in the N/A family tree. The schrick 268/272/276 are all N/A cams, so is the
ABT 300 (anderson/ex-Lawson), and yes it pulsates the CIS flap. The Schrick
272 has the highest lift of the 3 common above, and is a good turbo cam, btdt.
* On the 10vt motor, the cam is really where the tweeksters should spend some
time/dollars. If one reads up on what some of the tuners did in the 80's, the
cam development was limited, but very successful.
* Bruce Bell did a very good job of explaining the differences in cams N/A vs
turbo, a good archive reference. I have also seen his charted cam comparos
on his 4kq, and the difference was measureable.
* Avoid the press on lobe type cams, several stories of problems, really
expensive ones at that.
* High lift, little overlap for turbo cars is the ticket. Really high lift?
Those mechanical valve heads may not be sea anchors after all....

Why?
Turbo cams generally have a very short overlap. While good
for turbos in general and very low end response in an NA,
not the hot ticket for an NA motor.>>
