Starting Problem on 87 5KTQ

My car starts right up 50% of the time. The rest of the time I
might have to crank it a dozen or so times at 2-3 seconds a try
before it takes. This is for cold starts. Warm starts it almost
always takes it two tries - not a big problem, I assume minor
vapor lock - the injector cooling fan works fine. And finally,
just a light push, pop the clutch, instantaneous response. It's
like the starter drain on the battery affects something. My
assumption has been that replacing the injectors will probably
solve the problem, but as I am finding out today, that is gonna
cost about $250 in parts. Should I fork over the $? The car has
165K miles.

What's the collective wisdom out there? I used to subscribe to
the list but my administrator put the kibosh on it - bummer. So
be sure any replies go to me as well as the list.

TIA.
